Hardships in the New World

As we have discovered from reading our Jamestown novels, the first permanent English settlement in what is now our country almost didn’t make it. The early settlers faced many hardships. Think about all of the setbacks experienced by the settlers that your novel has illuminated, carefully consider them, and then determine your own response to this question:
Which hardship encountered by the first English settlers in Jamestown was the most severe and had the greatest impact on the original colonists? Why do you feel that was the most difficult?
